Optical Character Recognition (OCR) as a web service

This is a web service that can be used to read text that appear in images and photos to plain text that can be copied and pasted. The service is built around the open source software Tesseract.

How does it work?

To use the OCR service, simply click in the box below to select a photo or image file or drag the file to this box. Then select the language that the text is written in using the drop down menu and press the blue button "Execute and Translate". The results will be immediately shown in the grey results box below on this page. Once the results have been generated, all uploaded data are deleted from our systems.

Which languages are supported?

The following languages are supported (not all have been tested): Afrikaans, Albanian, Amernian, Arabic, Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese (simplified), Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Romanian, Serbian, Slovakian, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, Yiddish
